Opportunites Waiting
National Headquarters (GC) - Never has there been a better time than now for school leaders and teachers to come together to Create the right Conditions for student achievement and success. We must find and implement the right solutions in our schools to offset the unique challenges this new generation of learners brings to us. As we uncover a prescriptive set of general and specific strategies to incorporate into our standard operating procedures in our schools, it is with INTENTION that we must stake our claim on Excellence!
We often wonder, as we read school mission statements that echo the sentiment that “all students can learn,” why then, aren’t they learning? 2016 offers educators a chance to “right our wrongs,” to renew our minds, bodies, hearts, and strength in an effort to DO SOMETHING great for our students- ALL STUDENTS. Education has provided many of us opportunities and experiences we passed over in our own dreams. We must remember the lessons we learned and pave the way for the next generation of scientists, doctors, lawyers, teachers, politicians, and laborers in this century.
Public education is in dire need of a new system of thought, which requires a new era of thinkers. We have to find ways to think our way into the hearts and minds of those who struggle daily to “answer the call” to educate every child we are so fortunate to meet and teach. As we continue to be change agents with a renewed sense of purpose and engagement, let me remind you of the “URGENCY” we face. We must also be reminded that when we solve the problems for our underachieving students, we solve the problems for all students.
The factory model, one- size fits all isn’t working for anyone. We must ensure all students are academically successful by creating a culture of learning that uses best practices in teaching and learning. In order to accomplish this, we must continue learning ourselves. I encourage and challenge each and every one of you to bring your best to our student’s daily. Our students deserve nothing less!
